Exploring in Nature

Exploring in the Outdoors

In this page I share the different activities we do from all our subjects of learning. From everything we do in our daily learning, my children always enjoy the activities that emphasize the learning of a topic read in a book. By seeing things by first hand exposure and applying what was read on a “living book”, they get more information embedded in their minds. My daughter can recall details from one of our science books when observing something similar while taking a nature walk.

The Charlotte Mason method recommends “free” afternoons of outdoor learning, observation of nature, life skills learning, physical activity and exploring. Well, since I’m new at this way of living (home education), I’m still working on implementing all advises I find in the literature I read. Trying to make everything fit in a schedule might be some what of a challenge, so the best approach I’ve encountered so far, is to try to choose the activities that best fit our life style and work on achieving a healthy balance. There is so much, so much I can do with my kids, but the main point is to enjoy what we do, as a family, and learn in  the process.
