When we were learning about the different kind of plants, and we encountered the mold type, we decided to make a little experiment to observe how it grows. It was based in a very small paragraph from one of our science books: “The Berenstain Bears’ Big Book of Science and Nature”.
We then picked a pretty orange:
We then placed it in a can with another orange (so it wouldn’t “feel lonely”) and closed it with its lid. After three weeks, this is what we found after opening the can:
Yep, plenty of “yucky” mold!! Then Estefania went to grab her science book and showed me that we have grown mold.
The simplest experiments and observations are the ones that usually “hit the spot” with preschoolers.
